When the QuickStart team publishes information on the growth of IT career disciplines, we typically find many publications talking about job growth in the abstract. However, a quick Google search of artificial intelligence jobs shows page after page of paid Google ads seeking candidates for top paying jobs!!! Apple, Google, Intel, Accenture…all spend money to hire candidates for their open roles, except maybe Google (I have always wondered if they charge themselves to place ads on Google). There is no question that skills in both AI and machine learning are hot commodities and are only getting hotter.
While early thinking about AI and machine learning made us wonder if robots and automation might take jobs, the opposite is likely true. According to Gartner, AI will displace about 1.8 million jobs. It is also expected to create 2.3 million more, suggesting a net gain of highly qualified jobs needed to support the shift to automation.
How To Get Started In AI and Machine Learning
Given the relative newness of the field, it can feel daunting to figure out how to begin training for these roles. While fields like cybersecurity and data science have a crowded field of IT training, official certifications, and even degrees, good quality training in AI and machine learning is harder to find.
Luckily, QuickStart has partnered with a few universities to offer one of the first immersive bootcamps. Our 26-week AI & Machine Learning Bootcamp is offered through our partnership with University of California, Santa Barbara (Professional and Continuing Education). And for our Texas locals, University of Texas at Arlington will be launching their AI & Machine Learning Bootcamp later this summer.
This bootcamp is best suited for individuals with some background in IT and strong mathematical skills, but pre-course guides can prepare you for bootcamp's pace. With up to two live 1:1 mentoring sessions per week, you can confidently complete bootcamp with a solid understanding of AI and machine learning.
To ensure success, QuickStart’s job placement services team works with graduates of AI & Machine Learning Bootcamp for up to 1 year to help them find a job, but given the explosive growth in these roles, you likely won’t need that much help. In fact, a recent Capgemini report found that 83% of companies using AI say the technology is already adding jobs to their workforces. Start your AI and machine learning career today!
