About Cloud Security
Cloud Security has become one of the hottest careers in information technology, especially after the novel coronavirus outbreak. The correlation of cloud security with the unanimous adoption of cloud SaaS and IaaS is quite understandable. Companies across the globe have been led to adopt new work patterns that include work from home, which has directly led to the need for cloud adoption. We have witnessed that companies who could survive the repercussions of Covid-19 have one thing in common, data management and access on the cloud, the only reason for work-from-home success for them.
With all this hype, and for the right reasons, the need for cloud security has risen with equal ratio, and thus the demand for cloud security engineers is also going to shoot. Even before the Covid-19 outbreak, Microsoft mentions an astounding number of almost 1000 companies implementing Azure daily, which means Azure security personnel will soon be needed in high volumes by companies of medium to large scale.
Microsoft Azure Security Certification
Since Azure is being adopted at an incredible rate, following AWS in market share, Microsoft has introduced Azure security certification for professionals to become fully equipped with the skills to implement and manage cloud security on the Azure platform. A Microsoft Azure security engineer will have to pass the certification exam “AZ-500 – Microsoft Azure Security Technologies” and get the associate certification by the name of “Microsoft Certified: Azure Security Engineer Associate”. There will be four skills measured, as defined by Microsoft itself:
- Identity and access management
- Platform protection implementation
- Security operations management
- Data and applications security
These high-level skills will be further broken down, and candidates will be prepared to be able to manage users’ identity and login to the cloud, infrastructure security, and control, operations included in the infrastructure security and protecting the data to make it secure from all external threats and unwelcomed access.
Microsoft Azure Security Certification Cost
The exam cost depends upon the location or country in which the exam is proctored. For candidates appearing from the US, the official exam cost is $165. The same is mentioned by the official website for Microsoft.
How to Prepare for Microsoft Azure Security Certification?
The exam does not as for any prerequisite, but it is highly recommended to pass a couple of other Azure certifications before appearing for Azure security certification. Starting from the basics would help you to gain clarity and grip on basic Azure concepts, making it easy for you to prepare for and pass the AZ-500 exam. You can get the fundamentals certification that goes by the name of “Microsoft Certified: Azure Fundamentals” by appearing for the “AZ-900 – Microsoft Azure Fundamentals” exam. Once you are well-versed with the fundamentals, the next ideal step would be to prepare for the “AZ-104 – Microsoft Azure Administrator” exam and get the “Microsoft Certified: Azure Administrator Associate” certification. Although none of these two certifications is compulsory to take before appearing for the AZ-500 exam, taking these will only help you strengthen your grip on Azure and Azure security, as well as decorate your CV to apply for the Microsoft Azure security engineer position.
